Business Analyst

The Canadian Professional Sales Association is looking for a thoughtful and motivated Business Analyst to join our team at Yonge and Bloor in Toronto. This dynamic position will support work to improve Canadian business access to highly skilled sales talent. The successful candidate will have a portfolio of responsibilities in market analysis, data analysis, modeling, reporting, forecasting and budgeting, and work collaboratively with senior leadership to monitor and report on business success, and provide insight to help guide future work to advance the sales profession in Canada.  The successful candidate will take a data-driven approach to business analytics, and excel in areas including planning, reporting, financial analysis, quality metrics, and project management.

In this role, you will…

Develop modeling and reporting tools primarily for project analysis to support the work we do with the Government of Canada.  
Prepare and analyze monthly project expense summaries, identify and report on variances, and forecast future expenditures by quarter.  
Research and update project economic models toward product sustainability, analyzing price and costing models to support overall revenue strategy, project, products and break-even analysis, ROI, future product enhancement costs, etc.
Develop, monitor and report on key performance indicators. 
Provide accurate and timely contract or product revenue and margin analysis to help facilitate strategic and operational decision making. 
Provide written business reports, including financial analysis, interpretations, solutions, and recommendations. 
Conduct data analysis to support budget and forecast activities of the organization. 
Participate on project teams to implement new methods for data analysis and reporting. 
Support labour market data collection and reporting through CPSA membership and external data sources which demonstrate project deliverables and success. 
Develop advanced knowledge on Dynamics 365 Customer Relationship Management, NAV and all other enterprise applications requiring financial analyses; such as Desire2Learn, Student Information Systems, Sitefinity, and Google Analytics. 
Assist in results reporting and monitoring as required. 


Your Qualifications
Education: An undergraduate degree in a related field and evidence of relevant years of direct work experience. 
Course work or professional designation in data analysis or analytics is preferred. 
Experience: Minimum 3 years’ Business Analyst’s experience from entrepreneurial, consumer goods and services industry (preferred) and experienced with financial, data analysis and reporting systems. 
Business and Finance Tools: Proficiency in various accounting software; Customer Relationship Management Microsoft Dynamics – Dynamics 365 (CRM), NAV (Financial System) and Jet Reporting (preferred), Advanced skills in Microsoft Office applications (MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook)
Experience with labour market and employment data would be an asset.  
Knowledge: Broad-based knowledge of GAAP, finance, accounting, and experience in growing and diversifying a business through corporate development initiatives
Critical Thinking and Problem Solving: Analytical skills required to break down multi-dimensional issues related to reporting and to provide strategic insight and tactical solutions.
Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills to deal effectively with all levels of staff, customers, suppliers and other stakeholders. Education: 
Technical Skills: Advanced Microsoft Excel skills; comfortable dealing with large amounts of data, working knowledge of Microsoft Dynamics CRM or Sales Force, NAV (preferred)

This position reports to the Vice-President, Education and Certification and supports the project activities supported by the Government of Canada.
