You will guide and support a team directly responsible for all accounting, financial and reporting functions for the organization in addition to overall responsibility for:

  • Management and monitoring of financial performance including working capital and cash.

  • Preparation of monthly and quarterly financial statements and reports to internal teams, the Audit and Risk Committee and external stakeholders including regulatory authorities.

  • Planning, direction and monitoring of the annual plan and annual audit.

  • Development of and compliance with appropriate internal controls, reporting, policies and procedures including those related to employees.

  • Provision of key financial projections, analysis and presentations to support decision-making across departments.

  • Managing and providing direction to the IT third party relationship, data and cyber risk management and other risk guidance

Key Responsibilities:


    • Ensure accurate and timely preparation of all financial information for the Association including monthly consolidated financial statements and cash flow information with a comprehensive review and analysis of revenues earned and expenses incurred to budget or forecast and prior year;

    • Oversees and verifies the accuracy of reports to meet external financial reporting and audit requirements in accordance with GAAP for the non-profit sector, the Audit and Risk Committee, bank, regulatory and tax authorities, and agreements for grants; 

    • Management of the controls and operations of the accounting systems including payroll, banking and investments, service and membership billings, accounts receivable, accounts payable, inventory, and fixed assets;

    • Preparation of the annual budget and forecasts;

    • Support the CEO in the preparation of board documents, presentations to support strategic updates and maintenance of the board portal;

    • Supervise and assist in the preparation, distribution and analysis of departmental financial information monthly with key performance indicators, trends and analyses to support decision making and changes as needed;

    • Review risks associated with data management, data retention, and cyber security and provide guidance to the senior leadership team and the IT partner(s);

    • Administer employment contracts, onboarding documentation and employee policies;

    • Monitor investment portfolio performance and ensure adherence to established investment policies and benchmarks; 

    • Mentor and develop finance team members as required;

    • Liaise with Audit Committee as required and support the external auditor in year-end planning, preparation and execution of the annual audit and;

    • Other administrative responsibilities that may be assigned from time to time.



    • Current professional accounting designation (CPA, CA) and 8-10 years of progressive work experience in an accounting/finance team

    • Minimum 5 years management team experience

    • Experience with MS Dynamics CRM and ERP applications an asset

    • Advanced MS Excel skills

    • Experience with associations, subscription-based membership or service billings

    • Demonstrates strong leadership and analytical skills

    • Strong interpersonal, presentation and communication skills
