Bill Banham: Throughout the Social Media and Tech podcast series we’ve spoken about social selling and the importance of connecting with social media influencers to help grow a salesperson’s personal brand and potential audience. But who are the the experts to follow?
In this special Social Media and Tech episode, I’m going to offer ten social selling influencers and thought leaders to watch out for in 2017.
This list is a mix of Canadian and non-Canadian sales-focused experts and the selection is based on factors including, following, career experience, amount of popular content created, popularity of shared content in the CPSA’s blog section and other sources.
In no particularly order, here is the CPSA's list of top 10 sales people on social:
First up is Tibor Shanto. Tibor Shanto is a 25-year veteran of B2B sales who has developed an insider’s hands on perspective of successful sales execution. As founder and President and Principal of Renbor Sales Solutions Inc., he works with Canada’s leading corporations and others in the United States and the U.K, helping these organizations realize sustained revenue attainment through improvement in sales strategy and execution.

Next is Matt Heinz. Matt is a prolific author and blogger Matt Heinz brings more than 15 years of marketing, business development and sales experience from a variety of organizations, vertical industries and company sizes.
His career has focused on delivering measurable results for his employers and clients in the way of greater sales, revenue growth, product success and customer loyalty. The next Sales Influencer on our list is Lori Richardson. The founder and CEO of Score More Sales, Lori is a thought leader on B2B front-line sales growth and works with (or in conjunction with) technology brands worldwide. She is an integral part of the expertise on selling and lead development on the web and manages Sales Shebang®, a community of the world’s top women B2B sales experts. In addition to coaching and training front-line sales leaders and sales reps, Lori writes and blogs for technology brands on selling. The next thought leader on our top 10 list is Jamie Shanks. Jamie is one of North America’s leading Social Selling experts. He has personally built Social Selling solutions in nearly every industry, ranging from start-ups to Fortune 500 corporations. Before starting his first sales agency, Toronto-based Jamie was the Director of Sales at two software companies. Jamie has trained 1,000’s of sales professionals from Fortune 500 companies to solopreneurs. Want to learn more about Jamie? Shane Gibson is the next sales-focused influencer to make it on our list. Shane is a professional speaker, trainer and social media analyst, who’s ranked #5 on Forbes.com list of the Top 30 Social Sales People in the World. Also to his credit, Shane has written several books including Sociable, Closing Bigger the Field Guide to Closing Bigger, and his new book Guerrilla Social Media Marketing. Alen Mayer, is our next sales expert. Alen Mayer helps sales leaders enlarge their sales circles and tap into their team members’ individual strengths to increase sales results. He works closely with companies to create a tailor-made, irresistible language for introverted clients.
Alen has over 20 years of experience in international sales and business development. He’s President of the Sales Association Ontario Chapter and President of the International Association of NLP Sales Professionals; Alen has previously been listed as a Top 25 Sales Influencers. Alen is a published author of 4 sales titles, a Certified Trainer, and a Licensed Business Success Coach.
Next up is Mat Koenig. A recent guest on the CPSA's SalesProChat show, Mat is the CEO of Buscador de Auto and KonigCo. He is an author, father, and public speaker. When he isn't traveling the country helping the best get better, he spends his time relaxing at home in Kalamazoo, Michigan.
Matt is also the co-founder of the Rockstar Auto Conference with Christopher Speer. Mat has been a guest of the SalesProChat podcast and associated twitter chat plus you can hear him on the CPSA’s new Leadership podcast series.
Sarah Zeldman is the next on our list. Sarah is a Social Media trainer, speaker and trusted consultant for a wide variety of businesses and organizations. She educates and empowers companies to handle the social media in-house, as part of their regular business routine.
She specializes in on-boarding professionals who think they may be too old to master social media, or who might describe themselves as "technophobic". In one 3-hour session, Sarah gets them posting, tweeting, and engaging like a pro! Sarah shows individuals and organizations how to implement her 3-step social media formula, which allows them to build brand awareness, connect to their target customers, generate leads and ultimately increase sales. Her 60+ LinkedIn recommendations demonstrate her proven track record for results: expanding customers bases, traffic, revenues and retention.
Jill Konrath is one of the most well know sales authors, Jill’s books, SNAP Selling and Selling to Big Companies, are two of the best-selling sales books of all time, and she’s just released a new book, Agile Selling. Her strategies for shortening your sales cycle, sales training and client acquisition can be found on her blog, Twitter, and through her frequent speaking engagements. Last, but certainly not least, on this list of top 10 sales influencers is Mark Hunter. Mark Hunter is a speaker, sales trainer and author of High-Profit Selling: Win the Sale Without Compromising on Price. He has 18+ years of experience in the sales and marketing divisions of three Fortune 100 companies, before he became an independant consultant.
