A viral marketing campaign is one of the easiest ways for your brand to become wildly popular and successful in a fairly short period.

When executed properly, a viral campaign will work similarly to word of mouth marketing by allowing customers and prospects to spread the message about your brand. In this article, we’ll cover five tactics for creating a successful viral marketing campaign to help you reach new levels of success.

1. Prepare For Success

Before you launch your viral marketing campaign, it’s important to ensure your website is ready to handle the new amount of visitors to your site. This will help you avoid any situation where your website is non responsive due to a huge increase in traffic. The last thing you want is for you to not be prepared to successfully handle your marketing campaign!

2. Capture Your Leads

It’s important to have a goal in mind before you start spreading your message. In the case of viral marketing, you may want to collect as many leads as possible, which you can pass on to your sales team or add them to a nurturing campaign. A good place to start is to collect contact information from all of the new visitors to your website. After you have collected all these new emails, you have the chance to reach out to them to build a relationship. All of these new contacts are a gold mine for your sales team!

3. Include a Free Offer

Once you know your specific goal, and your website is prepared for an influx in new visitors, the next step is to offer your audience a valuable piece of content in exchange for their contact information. Whether it’s an ebook, a webinar, or a white paper, a piece of meaningful content will make a new lead much more likely to share their contact information with you. Ultimately, this will help you capture as many qualified email addresses as possible.

4. Add an Incentive

This is where the viral part really kicks in. Make sure to include an incentive for your new leads to invite friends as well as the invitee. By giving both customers and invitees an incentive, your viral marketing campaign will be able to run on it’s own. This is where the magic happens!

5. Take it to the Next Level with a Contest

If you’ve come this far, then chances are you’re ready to take things to the next level by incorporating a contest. With a contest, you can include a grand prize for the customer who invites the most friends, helping your campaign really become viral. Although this may require an upfront investment, it will ensure a successful campaign.

If you follow this simple process, you will easily set up a viral marketing campaign that will help generate new leads for your sales team. You can use this approach in the future whenever you’re ready to attract new leads and make improvements to ensure an even greater level of success!
